The Government of India had launched National River Conservation Plan (NRCP) and National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP) under the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) with the aim of conserving Natural water resource in urban area. As a part of NLCP projects it had been our great pleasure to prepare proposal for Conservation of Twin Lakes viz., Lalpari and Randarda of Rajkot city.

Lack of public awareness, deteriorating water quality, reducing of vegetation/green belt, increasing of visitors etc. have affected micro-environment of the area affecting habitat of migratory birds and indigenous animals. Overall bio-diversity of the lake and its surrounding had been threatened due to several reasons. A need for creating sustainable environment had been urgently felt. Therefore it became necessary to prepare a Strategic Integrated Management Action Plans. The project proposal was finally submitted to the Central Water Committee (CWC) for financial approval by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (ULB).
